After last Memorial Day, PLOG took a walk through the Nethermead in Prospect Park and felt like Irons Eyes Cody. The grounds were a wasteland. But this past holiday weekend was clearly a victory of sorts. Park volunteers handed out garbage sacks to barbecuers and a friend of ours took it upon herself to do the same after they ran out. The result? Not perfect, but a huge improvement.

We often find ourselves picking up litter as we walk through the fields but don’t always have a place to carry it. PLOG will be seeking funding to install small trash bag dispensers encouraging visitors to help clean up all year round. How would you suggest improving cleanliness in the park after holidays and events? Do you think there was less of a mess today than last time?
